In the city of Surrey, British Columbia, destiny brought together a group of Shirdi Sai Baba’s devotees.
Few met while chanting prayers at the Laxmi Narayan Temple, others found kinship in the prayers offered at the Durga Temple. The Hanuman Temple and Guru Dwara, too, echoed with their shared devotion, though none of them knew then that their paths were converging for a higher purpose.
One auspicious day, these devotees, unknowingly guided by Sai Baba himself, crossed paths and shared a heartfelt yearning – a temple dedicated to their beloved Baba in Surrey.
The questions arose- where to begin? Filled by unwavering faith they rented a modest unit in Surrey.
Baba had said for the welfare of His devotees: “Those who are fortunate and whose demerits have vanished, take to My worship. If you always say ‘Sai’, ‘Sai’ I shall take you over the seven seas, belief in these words and you will be certainly benefited” (Chapter 13th, Shri Sai Satcharitra).
It had been a long-time wish of many Sai devotees to establish an exclusive Shirdi Sai Mandir.
Following many ups and downs and a long-awaited period of almost 10 years, the time had finally come and the dream of many Sai devotees has started taking its shape gradually. A few chosen devotees have been inspired and guided by Baba to establish His abode in Surrey.
As Baba says, “If you take one step towards me, I will move ten steps closer to you”. With this immense belief that Baba Himself is the doer, and we are just the instruments in His hands, we were quite confident that this would become a reality very soon and with Baba’s grace and the untiring efforts of many Sai devotees, we now have a dedicated temple for Shirdi Saibaba, based in Surrey BC, which is accessible to the devotees since February 2022.
This blessed seed planted with devotion, has blossomed into the flourishing temple occupying the entire floor at Unit 201-202, 13042, 84th Avenue. And the foundation has intensions to expanding the temple moving forward.
What began as a small gathering of Sai devotees has grown into a vibrant community of over 800 by the end of 2023, a testament to the love and blessings of Shirdi Sai Baba.
