Food Drives (Ann Daan)

Food Donation SSKD

In India, where “Anna Dhan” (grain wealth) represents the life power of food, also known as भोजन दान अभियान Bhojan Daan Abhiyan (food donation campaigns) ensure everyone has access to this basic necessity.

These food donation campaigns bridge the gap between those with surplus and those in need, fostering a spirit of community and compassion.

Baba believed that by sharing “Anna Dhan,” individuals contribute to a collective effort that nourishes not just human bodies but also the inherent human value of helping others.

While charity and food donation are acts practiced throughout the year, there are specific times when Anna Dhan efforts and Bhojan Daan Abhiyan hold particular significance in India:

Major festivals like Diwali, Dussehra, and Guruparab often see a surge in food donation drives as people share their blessings and prosperity with the less fortunate.

In the face of natural disasters, economic difficulties, or periods of drought. Bhojan Daan Abhiyan becomes even more critical as communities come together to support those facing food insecurity in small villages and cities.

Many individuals and organizations choose to engage in Anna Dhan efforts or support Bhojan Daan Abhiyan at regular intervals, like birthdays, anniversaries, or when somebody has passed away in a family, simply as individual compassion.

Ultimately, the decision of when to participate in Anna Dhan or Bhojan Daan Abhiyan is a personal choice, driven by individual motivations and the specific needs of the community.

Shirdi Sai Kripa Dham deeply believes in giving back and strengthening our Surrey communities.

We recognize that food insecurity is a pressing issue that affects many families, and we are committed to making a difference.

In 2023, we proudly donated 2,416 kilograms of food to the Surrey Food Bank, providing essential nourishment for those in need.

Inspired by the impact we made, we have set an higher and more ambitious goal for 2024: donating 5,600 kilograms of food to help fight hunger and support less privileged members of our community.

Every act of food donation, big or small, contributes to a collective effort towards ensuring that everyone has access to this basic human necessity.
